Pistons’ Home Opener September 23rd

The Steinbach Pistons will kick-off the 2016/2017 season on home ice against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Friday, September 23rd.

Despite the hot weather this week, hockey talk has snuck back into the conversation as the Pistons are now two months away from arriving back in Steinbach for another exhilarating season.  This will be the first time in a few years where the Pistons will be kicking off their season against someone other than the Winkler Flyers.

When looking over the schedule the Pistons have fewer overnight road trips this year, staying overnight seven times on five trips into northern Manitoba; three road trips in November and then another two in February.

Last year the Pistons had multiple back-to-back home nights, including a Friday-Saturday-Sunday triple header on home ice, which was a part of a seven game homestand in 14 days. This year the Pistons will play at most four games in a row on home ice before venturing back out into Manitoba.

The Majority of this year’s home games will be on the weekend just like last year, with 10 games on Friday, nine on Saturday and three on Sunday. The Pistons will host six games on Wednesday and a matinee family game on Louie Riel Monday.
