20-Year-Old Thank You: Michael King

The Pistons organization would like to thank forward Michael King for his contributions in his brief time with the team.

King was selected by Steinbach with the 10th pick in the first round of the 2015 MJHL Bantam Draft out of the Winnipeg Sharks Bantam AAA program. He spent the majority of his junior career in the Western Hockey League with the Kootenay Ice and the Spokane Chiefs, before making his debut with the Pistons on October 30th, 2020.

King made an immediate impact with the club as he set franchise records for the first Piston ever to score a hat-trick in his first game. He also set the record for the fastest hat-trick ever scored in team history, taking him just five minutes and sixteen seconds to net himself three straight goals. In just two appearances with the Pistons, ‘Kinger’ put up four goals and one assist for five points.

“It was fun while it lasted with Kinger,” Head Coach and General Manager Paul Dyck said. “He came in and made quite the entrance in game one! We would have loved to have continued on with him in our lineup, as he was a great fit on the ice and in our room. He has very good details in his game and it would have been beneficial for our younger players in particular to see those on a daily basis. “

Thank you Michael! We wish you and your family all the very best in the future!
