Defenceman Christian Riemer has been selected as the Pistons’ most valuable player during the MJHL playoffs.
Riemer was signed by the Pistons just before the start of the 2019-20 season. He returned to the team shortly before the conclusion of the regular season after recovering from his upper body injury and proved his worth in the playoffs.
The 20-year-old from Regina was practically everywhere on the ice. He scored a playoff-high 6 points during the postseason, which was tied with teammate Rylan Bettens. He was an instrumental figure in the Pistons going 23 for 23 on the penalty kill against the Blues, and formed a shutdown pair with Curtis Ireland in the four-game sweep of Winnipeg.
Riemer also scored the biggest goal of the season as his game-winner in triple overtime of Game #3 gave Steinbach a 3-0 series over the Blues, in what would end up as the longest game in franchise history.
Congratulations to Christian Riemer on receiving the 2019-20 Pistons Playoff Most Valuable Player award!
