2019-20 Rookie of the Year: Carter Loney

This season’s Rookie of the Year award goes to 17-year-old forward Carter Loney.

The Winnipeg native and University of Minnesota-Duluth commit had an outstanding first year in junior hockey, putting up 16 goals and 50 points in 52 games with the Pistons, which was good for 3rd amongst all MJHL rookies.

He also represented Team Canada West at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge in December, and was selected to participate in the 2020 CJHL Top Prospects Game where he was the top on-ice performer amongst all skaters during the skills testing event. The rookie forward was also ranked inside NHL Central Scouting’s Mid-Term Rankings list in January for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Loney received some league honours at the end of the season as well. He was selected to the league’s All-Star 2nd Team and the All-Rookie Team, and was named the 2019-20 MJHL Rookie of the Year.

Congratulations to Carter Loney on winning the 2019-20 Pistons Rookie of the Year award!
