Pistons partner with Manitoba Moose to support Steinbach & Area Animal Rescue and True North Youth Foundation
The Steinbach Pistons were thrilled to host the Manitoba Moose Intrasquad game earlier this month, a special event that brought professional hockey to our community and raised significant funds for important local causes. The game was a resounding success, bringing fans together and raising a total of $5,000.
In a wonderful display of community spirit, the proceeds were split between two deserving organizations. A total of $2,500 was donated to the True North Youth Foundation, and another $2,500 was directed to the Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue, a local organization dedicated to caring for animals in need.
The partnership provided a unique opportunity for the Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue, which was able to sell merchandise at the game and receive half of the proceeds. Graham Pollock, Vice President of the Rescue, shared his gratitude for the collaboration.
“We’re really pleased that the Pistons gave us this opportunity. It was terrific,” Pollock said. “As we know, I mean, they’re strong community players to begin with. Pardon the pun, ‘players’ but they are strong in the community. And so, this is not surprising, but it’s very appreciated for sure.”
The Pistons organization formally presented the $2,500 donation to the Rescue during a recent home game. A photo marking the occasion captures Pistons board member Dale Wolgemuth presenting the cheque to Rescue representative Michelle Neufeld, symbolizing the strong bond between the team and community organizations.
This initiative highlights the Pistons’ commitment to more than just hockey; it’s about bringing people together and making a positive impact. Partnering with the Manitoba Moose and the Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue created a memorable experience for everyone involved.
