The Steinbach Pistons were proud to host another successful Sticks in the City Street Hockey Tournament as part of Summer in the City, with a new twist for 2026.
For the first time, the tournament was held inside the Southeast Event Centre, where five indoor street hockey courts were constructed on the event floor, transforming the facility into a vibrant hub of competition and community activity.
The event welcomed 20 teams comprised of players aged 7 to 14, bringing together young athletes from across the region.
“The atmosphere inside the building was incredible,” said Steinbach Pistons Marketing Director Jamie Roy. “Creating five courts inside the Southeast Event Centre allowed us to host more games and provide a unique experience for players and families. It was exciting to see the facility come alive with so much energy.”
Following the two days of competitive and spirited play, division champions were crowned and recognized during a special medal and trophy presentation ceremony.
Congratulations to our 2026 Sticks in the City Champions:
🏆 Rink Rascals – U9
🏆 Mighty Ducks – U11
🏆 Twisted Sisters – U13
🏆 Benchwarmers – U15
Each championship team received gold medals and a division trophy, celebrating their accomplishments and sportsmanship throughout the event.
The Steinbach Pistons would like to thank all participating players, parents, volunteers, and our Steinbach Pistons officials who helped make the tournament a success.
The success of the tournament’s first year inside the Southeast Event Centre has created excitement for the future, and the organization looks forward to building on the event’s momentum in the years ahead.
Photo galleries from the event will be shared on the Steinbach Pistons’ social media channels in the coming days.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Sticks in the City 2026 a memorable celebration of street hockey and community.
