Bounce Back win in Swan Valley

The Steinbach Pistons bounced back after a wide open 7-5 loss to the OCN Blizzard Friday night to defeat the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-2 in their second of three consecutive games up north. The Stampeders got off to the start they were looking for when Bo Sigurdson scored his 7th of the year to put Swan Valley in front 1-0 five minutes into the game. However, the 340 Stampeders fans in attendance quickly saw that lead evaporate in the latter half of the period as the Pistons scored two goals separated by only a 1:08. The markers were scored by Tyler Penner and Jonah Wasylak. Penner now leads the Pistons with 26 goals in the season. Tyler Garrioch made it 3-1 for the Pistons to start the 2nd period, but former Pistons player Nick Kobelka quickly brought the Stampeders back within one 33 seconds later. Steinbach hemmed Swan Valley in their zone for the majority of the period outshooting them 14-4 during the second frame. The Pistons added another two goals in the 3rd with Landon Cross notching his 5th of the year and Garrioch finding the empty net in the dying seconds of the game for his 2nd of the contest. There weren’t a lot of penalties called as the Pistons went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and 0-for-1 on the power play. Colin Baudry had the biggest infraction, receiving a game misconduct and a 2-minute minor in the first period for checking-from-behind. Dan Taillefer picked up two more assists in the game, increasing his current point streak to 14 games. He now has the Pistons record for longest point streak which was 12 games. Taillefer has a total 6G and 13A for 19 points during this 14 game stretch. Nick Deery was put back in net after getting the night off the day before, stopping 30-of-32 for his 20th win of the season. He now has a 2.52 GAA and a .912 SV%. Graham Hunt was shouldered with his 17th loss of his campaign steering away 28-of-32. The (26-11-6) Pistons wrap up their four games in five-day stretch, where they are 3-1 with a match-up against the (15-21-6) Dauphin Kings 7:00PM Sunday evening at the Credit Union Place.
