The Steinbach Pistons beat the Dauphin Kings by a score of 5-4 Saturday evening at the TG Smith Centre.

The Kings opened the scoring midway through the first period to make it 1-0. Jakob Brook intercepted a pass from Dawson Milliken which then sprung the Kings on a two on one. Brooks found Mathew Gough with a cross crease pass who then put it home past Dominik Wasik.

Steinbach would tie the game up 1-1 just over 5-minutes later. Neo Kiemeney was driving towards the net and centered the puck to Davin Griffin who got a stick on it and tapped it into the net.

The first period saw the Pistons get three powerplays in a row, but they were not able to capitalize on any of them.

The game went into the first intermission tied 1-1 with the shot totals 15-5 for the Pistons.

The Kings would take another penalty early in the second period to make it their fourth penalty in a row but again the Pistons would not be able to capitalize. The script would change for the remainder of the game as between the rest of the second period and third the Pistons would take four penalties in a row.

Dauphin would regain their lead with 15 seconds remaining in the second period to make it 2-1. Deepkaran Hans drove the net with Wasik stopping the initial shot, however Alex Senf got the rebound and put it past Wasik.

The Kings would extend their lead to two goals on the powerplay early in the third period. Hans got the puck to Nolan Wickham who put it glove side from the left faceoff dot past Wasik.

Ian Amsbaugh would kick start the Pistons comeback, making it 3-2 at the 6:13 mark of the third period. Amsbaugh curled around the right faceoff dot and ripped the puck glove side from the high slot. Dmytro Kubritsky got most of the puck, but it managed to squeak by and trickle into the net.

50 seconds later Steinbach would get one in again and tie the game up. An incidental collision at centre ice between Langley Kruggel and Jamie Valentino freed the puck up to Noah Szabo who then found Brett Kaiser at the right faceoff dot who one timed it past Kubritsky and into the net to make it 3-3.

47 seconds after the tying goal the Pistons would get their first lead of the game. Davin Griffin put a puck on net with the rebound going right to Warren Clark with the whole net at his disposal. Clark ripped it into the net and made the game 4-3.

The Kings would not go away quietly as they would tie the game up 5-minutes later. Marko Bodnarski came off the bench, got the loose puck at the point and tried to centre it to his teammate but ended up putting it off a Pistons skate and into the net to make it 4-4.

Steinbach would answer back 24 seconds later to make it 5-4. Neo Kiemeney circled around the net and tried to tuck it in, but it went off the post to Travis Hensrud in the slot who put it past Kubritsky and into the net.

The Kings would pull their goalie, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Pistons would hold and secure the 5-4 comeback victory.
