Graduated Piston Codey Behun Becomes A Bison

The Steinbach Pistons are proud to announce the commitment of graduated forward Codey Behun, to the University of Manitoba Bisons.

Behun was acquired before the 2019/2020 season in a blockbuster trade with the Winnipeg Blues that also saw Ty Naaykens and Dylan Cassie join the Pistons.

In the 2019/2020 season Codey tallied 27 points in 60 games. A versatile player, Codey helped the Pistons in all situations whether it be on the power play, or penalty kill. Behun stepped up to the task in the playoffs of the 2019/2020 season amassing 4 points (1 goal and 3 assists) and helping the Pistons sweep his old team, the Winnipeg Blues.

Codey Behun’s time with the Pistons ended abruptly with the shortened season, however, Behun made sure to make his mark in the 8-game season getting 10 points in that span.

Behun was also a very familiar face within the community and to all those attended our annual kids’ Power Camp in late August where he assumed the role of head on-ice instructor for the past two years. Missed dearly by his brothers in blue in the dressing room, Behun has already been back to visit his former teammates and catch a couple games at the start of the 2021-22 season.

“It’s great to see Hunner earn this opportunity with the Bisons” Head Coach & GM Paul Dyck commented. “He always impressed with his work ethic, preparation and his love for the game. He is a great team guy who brings it every time he steps on the ice.”

The Pistons organization congratulates Codey on his commitment to the University of Manitoba Bisons and wishes him all the best in the future!
