Hellebuyck, Kidd Star at 11th Fire and Ice Banquet

The Steinbach Pistons hosted their 11th annual Fire and Ice Banquet in front of a packed banquet hall at the Niverville Heritage Centre last night.

Around 300 guests (sponsors, volunteers, parents, billets, and fans) saw a guest panel hosted by TSN 1290 play-by-play announcer Paul Edmonds, featuring Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck and former NHL goalie Trevor Kidd.

Hellebuyck and Kidd entertained the crowd with a discussion about goaltenders and the evolution of the equipment that was worn in the 1990’s when Kidd mainly played to the present-day era.

The event also included the annual traditions; including the introduction of the players to the guests, a team Q and A, and the Pistons rookies showcasing their singing talents as they belted out John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ while the audience clapped along.

The Pistons organization would sincerely like to thank Shur-Gro Farm Services Ltd. for being our Title Sponsor for the Fire and Ice Banquet. We’d also like to thank our Wine Sponsor Banville & Jones, our Pork Sponsor HyLife, and Let’s Celebrate Rentals for being last night’s Décor Sponsor.
