Kosmolak Volunteer of the Month

The Steinbach Pistons along with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Impact Team recognized Riley Kosmolak as the Pistons’ Volunteer of the Month for December.

The Pistons were looking for a dressing room assistant, so they put up a sign-up sheet during Hockey In The City at Steinbach’s Summer In The City Festival. The Pistons picked Riley off the list, who was 14 years-old at the time and it didn’t take long and he was asked to assist the team full-time, along with helping on road trips.

Kosmolak jumped at the opportunity and ended up winning an MJHL Championship in his first year with the team. Kosmolak, who is now 18 years-old, has continued to see his responsibilities increase over the years, evolving into the Pistons’ equipment manager.

All the hours he spends at the rink before and after games, along with keeping the team organized on the road has been volunteer work. The Pistons want to thank Riley for everything he does for the team.

Volunteers are an important component of any Junior ‘A’ franchise and Riley’s dedication over the years has been a key component on why the team has seen so much success.

There are lots of opportunities to join the Steinbach Pistons volunteer team. The Pistons are always looking for goal judges, security guards, ticket gate attendants, arena PA announcers, scorekeepers and the list goes on. If you want to take your support of the Pistons to the next level email [email protected] for more details.
