Landon Roberts Commits to Carleton University

The Steinbach Pistons would like to congratulate Landon Roberts on his commitment to play hockey at Carleton University for the 2023/2024 season.

Landon played one game for the Steinbach Pistons in 2018/2019 before making the jump to the WHL. Roberts played parts of three seasons with the Tri-City Americans from 2019-2022 where he got 5 points (3 goals and 2 assists) over 63 games. Roberts moved to the Brandon Wheat Kings in the 2021/2022 season where he got 11 points (7 goals and 4 assists) in 55 games. Roberts started this season with the Swift Current Broncos before coming to Steinbach where he got 30 points (14 goals and 16 assists) in 38 games with the Pistons. Roberts played a big role in the Pistons championship run, getting 7 points (1 goal and 6 assists) in 18 games and being a physical presence and consistent two-way forward in every game. Roberts was named an assistant captain upon his arrival in Steinbach, showing his natural veteran leadership right away.

When asked what led him to committing to Carleton Roberts stated, “Carleton reached out to me back in February and let me know they were really interested in having me come to Carleton and play for them. They were extremely supportive of my academics in pursuing engineering and have had a very competitive team for many years. They let me know how they saw me working into that and contributing to the team’s success which certainly had me interested in them right from the start.” Furthering on that Roberts commented, “after looking into the university, seeing how it’s a highly respected school, has a great engineering program, a beautiful campus and is located in a great city, I had no doubt that it would be a great fit for me. I am so excited to go visit and get things started there after we play at the Centennial Cup.”

“The Pistons helped me a lot when it came to my USPORTS” Roberts stated when asked how the Pistons have aided in his development as a player. “They gave me exposure to all of the teams just by being successful, winning teams get lots of looks and you always want winners on your team.” Continuing on the exposure he got playing for the Pistons Robert said, “I had the opportunity to represent the Pistons at the MJHL-SJHL Showcase, this is where I was put on Carleton’s radar from what I understood.” Commenting further on playing for the Pistons Roberts commented, “I was also given opportunities to show more of my offensive side of my game, by giving me time on the powerplay and different scenarios throughout the game. It was good for teams to see that I’m able to play in those positions and produce. It was good for me to see it as well, giving me more familiarity in those spots and confidence in my game.”

Congratulations Landon, the Pistons organization wishes you all the best in your future hockey endeavours!
