Lenz, Loney, Mole Players of the Month for January

Three Steinbach Pistons were recognized for their performance both on and off the ice in the MJHL’s Monthly Awards for January.

Matt Lenz was named the MGEU Goaltender of the Month for his play both with the Pistons and at the 2020 MJHL/SJHL Showcase. Lenz went 8-1-1 in January with a 1.97 GAA and a .920 SV%, and only let in one goal during his start for Team Belfour.

Carter Loney was named the IBAM Rookie of the Month. The 17-year-old rookie forward scored one goal and added ten assists in January, and was one of the most consistent forwards for Team Belfour at the MJHL/SJHL Showcase. The University of Minnesota-Duluth commit also played in the CJHL Top Prospects game on the 14th, and was named the top performer during the on-ice testing event.

Tanner Mole is the Manitoba Pork Peak Performer for January. Mole has been regularly getting involved in the community this season. He assists Youth for Christ in Steinbach to put together FCA huddle groups, where he spends time mentoring some local bantam hockey players helping them talk about life, hockey and faith.

Mole also helps out Athletic Therapist Jeff Eidse at Sweaty Training, helping young hockey players improve their skating by supervising a skating treadmill. The 20-year-old assistant captain for Steinbach was also involved in a fundraising event for Envision, and also laced up his skates and took one of the Pistons’ biggest fans, Envision resident Damaris Krahn, out for a skate on the ice during his spare time.

Congratulations to Matt, Carter, and Tanner on their MJHL recognitions for the month of January!
