Masks Mandatory At Pistons Home Games, Additional Regular Season Ticket Information Announced

Following the announcement released earlier this week by Hockey Manitoba, the Steinbach Pistons are supporting the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s decision to make masks mandatory in all of its facilities, including the T.G. Smith Centre.

The MJHL released a statement Wednesday evening saying, effective immediately, “players, coaches, staff, volunteers and spectators will be required to wear face masks while entering and inside the facilities where Hockey Manitoba-sanctioned activities take place.”

The Steinbach Pistons organization strongly supports this announcement as we look to provide a safe environment for our fans, volunteers, and our team. Along with the City of Steinbach, we are taking all the necessary steps to ensure the entire T.G. Smith Centre facility is disinfected frequently and that spectators are able to physically distance themselves from others as they enter the facility and sit/stand in their assigned location.

As a Board of Directors and staff, the team has had to make some difficult decisions regarding the seating arrangement within our building due to restrictions with our seating capacity. For the 2020-21 regular season, we have eliminated walk-up tickets completely. It will be season ticket holders only attending Pistons home games this year.

Within that group, a number of ticket holders will only receive tickets for 10 home games as opposed to all 20 as we cannot accommodate everyone at every game. Those affected have already been notified and we thank everyone for their understanding of this difficult situation.

To ensure the safety of all, we need our community to come on board and support these initiatives as well. The Pistons are one of a select few in the country playing hockey this fall, and we want our community to enjoy it as much as we will. All we ask is that you follow the guidelines put in place so we can all once again enjoy the sport we love together.

Our slogan for this season is ‘It’s About Team’.  We need you, our community teammates, to join us in our safe return to hockey.
