McLean Volunteer of the Month

The Steinbach Pistons along with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Impact Team recognized Barry McLean as the Pistons’ Volunteer of the Month this past weekend.

McLean has been involved with the Pistons for the past six years.  Barry makes sure that every Pistons’ home game runs smoothly, leading a team of over 20 security volunteers. He says he gets involved because he loves hockey and really enjoys providing a clean and friendly environment for families’ to enjoy.

The big and tall yellow vested security guard may look imposing on game-days, but once you start a conversation one will immediately see that he is a caring individual who loves to joke around. And he often does, with coaches, players and volunteers.

Barry also mentioned that the Pistons organization has paid huge dividends for the community. He added that this great program showcases the community, local coaches, billets and volunteers.

Volunteers are an important component of any Junior ‘A’ franchise and Barry’s dedication over the years has been a key component on why the team has seen so much success.

There are lots opportunities to join the Steinbach Pistons volunteer team. The Pistons are always looking for goal judges, security guards, ticket gate attendants, arena PA announcers, scorekeepers and the list goes on.
