The Steinbach Pistons have acquired D Evan Kaufman (’00) and Future Considerations from the Estevan Bruins (SJHL) in exchange for F Will Koop (’98).

Kaufman was acquired earlier by the Bruins from the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL.

The Winnipeg native has played all of his bantam and midget hockey in Manitoba, spending the past two season with the RHA Nationals Midgets of the CSSHL. He scored 35 points (9 G, 26 A) in 36 games with RHA last season. He has played six games with the Oilers this season.

“Evan is a player we have seen really develop in the past few years,” Pistons Head Coach and GM Paul Dyck said. “He had a very strong year with RHA Nationals last year, and we believe he will develop into an excellent Junior A defenceman.”

Koop has spent the past two seasons with Steinbach, registering 111 points with the Pistons from 2016-18. Koop played the opening weekend this season, and did not register a point in two games.

“We thank Will for his contributions to our program over the past two years, and wish him all the best in Estevan,” Dyck stated.

The Pistons would like to welcome Evan and his family to the Pistons community!
