Pistons Acquire Purcell from SJHL’s Bombers

The Steinbach Pistons have made a move shortly before the start of the regular season, as they have acquired F Zach Purcell (’00) from the SJHL’s Flin Flon Bombers in exchange for Future Considerations.

The 19-year-old skilled forward hails from Aurora, Colorado and has played with the Rocky Mountain Roughriders in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) for the past four years in three different age divisions. Purcell put up 20 goals and 34 points in 33 games over his last two seasons with the 18U Rocky Mountain squad.

“Zach is an intelligent player with a good skill set and skates very well,” Head Coach/GM Paul Dyck said of the deal. “We are really looking forward to adding him to our lineup.”

Purcell signed with the Bombers during the offseason and attended training camp in Flin Flon. He will be in the lineup tonight when Steinbach takes on the Winkler Flyers in Winkler.

The organization would like to welcome Zach and his family to the Pistons community!
