When asked what his first thoughts were on being traded to the Pistons Penner stated, “I was speechless, it was awesome. It was something I have wanted for a while now.” Penner will finally get the chance to play in front of his hometown and that is something he is looking forward to, “playing in front of family and friends is something I have always wanted while playing junior hockey. I’d love to bring a championship to my hometown and battling with the fellas is going to be awesome.”

When asked about his style of play as a defenceman Penner commented, “I model my game as a two-way defenceman, to jump up in the rush but also stay back and defend. I play hard and I want to win every single night.”
