With the January 10th trade deadline just hours away, the Steinbach Pistons inked a deal with the Swan Valley Stampeders to add some veteran experience on the blue line.
Steinbach acquires Matthew Munro (’04) from the Swan Valley Stampeders in exchange for future considerations. The trade was technically for Munro’s CJHL list rights as Matthew has spent this season in the NAHL where he played 30 games for the North Iowa Bulls.
Munro played for the MJHL’s Stampeders last season where he tallied up 16 points in 58 games played.
Insiders say the Pistons have been in conversation with Munro since the off-season but the move came to fruition in light of Pistons blue liner Shane Burns heading over to the BCHL’s Brooks Bandits over the Christmas break.
A few more hours to go until the clock strikes 5pm CST and the trade deadline has elapsed. Will there be more movement on the Pistons roster? stay tuned to find out.
Welcome to Steinbach Matthew.
