Pistons Announce Additions to Scouting Staff

The Steinbach Pistons have added some new faces to their Scouting Staff.

Head Coach/GM Paul Dyck announced today that David Anning is returning to the organization as the team’s new Head Scout.

Anning spent time in the Pistons organization during the 2012-13 season as the Assistant Coach/GM before being hired as an assistant coach with the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings that same year. Anning would spend seven seasons with the Wheat Kings, serving as the team’s Head Coach from 2016-19.

“I am very excited to work alongside David,“ Dyck stated. “We have worked together in the past, so I am familiar with him and his skills as a talent evaluator. He brings a passion to the rink and a strong knowledge of what it takes to be successful at the junior hockey level.“

The position had been vacant since Daryl Anning resigned to assume the role of Scouting Director for the Vancouver Giants of the WHL.

Another new addition to the Pistons scouting department is Matt McNish, who will serve as a Regional Scout in Brandon. McNish worked with the Wheat Kings for 11 years prior to joining the Pistons.

Dyck also announced that longtime Pistons scout Kim Ridd will remain with the team. Ridd has been with the organization as a scout since 2012, and has been a terrific asset in finding talent across Manitoba.

The Pistons would like to welcome David back to the organization, and would like to welcome Matt to the team!
