The Steinbach Pistons beat the Neepawa Titans by a score of 5-3 Saturday evening at the TG Smith Centre.
The Titans opened the scoring just before the seven-minute mark of the first period. Warren Clark gave up a juicy giveaway to Parker Korman in the Pistons end who then walked in and put post and in to make it 1-0.
Midway through the first period the Titans extended their lead to make it 2-0. Cody Gudnason got the puck below the goal line and centred it out front to Hayden Stocks who snuck it past Dominik Wasik and into the back of the net.
Steinbach would respond just under 2-minutes later to make it 2-1. Noah Szabo put a shot on net with Davin Griffin getting a stick on it and tipping it past Mason Lobreau to bring the Pistons to within one goal.
The Pistons would keep their feet on the gas as they would tie it up just 35-seconds later. Milliken and Paisley would enter the zone on a two on one with Milliken getting the puck to Paisley at the high slot who then ripped it glove side to make it 2-2.
The game would go into the first intermission tied 2-2 with the shot totals 17-16 for the Titans.
Steinbach would take their first lead of the game early in the second period. Dawson Milliken was in a puck battle behind the net and managed to get it out to Spencer Penner out front in the slot who put it glove side to make it 3-2.
The Pistons almost made it 4-2 with Kirk Mullen batting a puck out of mid-air into the net but the goal would get waved off due to high sticking.
The Pistons extended their lead midway through the middle frame with a powerplay goal. Leo Chambers got the puck to Ian Amsbaugh who walked in and put it past a fully screened Lobreau who did not see the puck at all.
Steinbach would go into the second intermission up 4-2 with the shot totals 35-28 in favour of the Pistons.
Midway through the third period the Titans would bring the score to within one goal. A loose puck in the crease was bounding around and Connor Thompson found the puck and put it past a sprawled out Wasik to make it 4-3.
The Pistons would quash all signs of a Titans comeback as Ty Paisley would restore the 2-goal lead 12-seconds later. Dawson Milliken centred the puck to Neo Kiemeney who then tapped it to Paisley on the doorstep with Paisley finishing it off sneaking it past Lobreau.
The Pistons would hold and secure the 5-3 win, splitting the weekend set against the Neepawa Titans.
