The Steinbach Pistons bested the Waywayseecappo Wolverines by a score of 2-1 Thursday evening in Waywayseecappo.
The Pistons opened the scoring just over halfway through the first period. Kirk Mullen entered the zone and dropped the puck off for Brett Kaiser. Kaiser then dropped the puck off to Ty Paisley in the high slot who made a nice backhand forehand move and backhanded it past Tresor Wotton to make it 1-0.
Steinbach would get a great opportunity to extend their lead to 2-0 as the Wolverines would be assessed a double minor for high-sticking but the Pistons would not be able to capitalize.
The Pistons went into the first intermission shorthanded as they took a late penalty, but they would be leading 1-0 after the first period of play.
The Pistons would kill of the remainder of the penalty that carried over from the first period and the game would remain 1-0.
At the 12:25 mark of the second period the Pistons would go down a man once again and this time the Wolverines would capitalize. Aiden Moser would put a shot on net from the point with the rebound going right to Caden Carlson at the side of the net who would find twine and make it 1-1.
With just under two minutes remaining in the second period the Pistons would regain the 1-goal lead. Travis Hensrud would go coast to coast and rip a wrist shot past Tresor Wotton from the right faceoff dot to make it 2-1.
Both teams would battle hard in the third period with each team getting some powerplay opportunities. The Pistons would lock it down however, and secure the 2-1 win over the Wolverines.
