Pistons Complete Weekend Sweep Up North With 3-1 Win

The Steinbach Pistons beat the OCN Blizzard by a score of 3-1 Saturday evening in OCN.

The Pistons yet again had strong goaltending in Dominik Wasik who made some key saves throughout the game. The first period did not see any offence but both teams’ penalty kills got some work, as the Pistons killed off two penalties and Blizzard killed off one.

OCN opened the scoring at the 7:30 mark of the second period as the Blizzard entered the Pistons zone on a 3 on 1 with Alex Bernauer getting the puck to Sebastian Hamming who put it past Wasik to make it 1-0.

Steinbach evened it up at 1-1 with a powerplay goal just over a minute later. Landon Roberts at the left faceoff dot found Dawson Milliken on the right faceoff dot who put it past Ethan Farrow.

The Pistons took their first lead of the game at the 14:12 mark of the second period. Noah Szabo partially fanned on a shot from the point that got to Leo Chambers in the slot who then found Nick Mikan at the side of the net, putting it past Farrow which would be the eventual game winning goal.

After two periods of play the Pistons were up 2-1 over the Blizzard with the shot totals 22-21 for Steinbach.

The Pistons continued to play well in the third period, with Wasik making some big stops and the Pistons shutting down the Blizzard offence.

Travis Hensrud would seal the deal, scoring his team leading 15th goal of the season in the empty net with just under 2-minutes remaining, securing the 3-1 victory.
