Pistons Dominant Play Leads to 6th Straight Win

The Steinbach Pistons continued their dominant play with a 4-1 win over the Winkler Flyers last night at Centennial Arena.

The Pistons struck first in the game with a goal from the red-hot Nate Goodbrandson scoring unassisted at the 8:40 mark. The Pistons held the lead for much of the rest of the period until Flyers forward Jackson Arpin got the puck in the slot and scored with 55 seconds left in the period.

At the end of the first period the game was tied at 1 a piece with the Pistons outshooting the Flyers 17-14.

Nate Goodbrandson got to work quickly in the second period scoring his second goal of the game just over two minutes in with assists coming from Quinton Pepper and Davis Fry. Nate Goodbrandson has 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) in the two games versus the Flyers.

Pistons goaltender Simon Harkness continued to play solid between the pipes as he made some great saves and shut the door on the Winkler Flyers.

The Pistons went into the second intermission up 2-1 with the shot totals 27-24 for the Pistons.

Just 29 seconds into the third period Travis Hensrud was given a gift shorthanded off a costly error by Flyers goaltender Dylan Meilun. Not making any mistake Hensrud buried the puck on the open net putting the Pistons up 3-1.

Jack Rogers put the nail in the coffin scoring with under two minutes left in the third period with assists coming from Dawson Milliken and Davin Griffin.

The Pistons won 4-1 and outshot the Flyers 41-33. Harkness turned away 32/33 shots and continued his stellar play.

The Pistons play again this coming Friday, October 8 against the Flyers in Winkler with puck drop at 7:30pm.
