Pistons Drop Last Game to Terriers Before Christmas Break

The Steinbach Pistons fell to the Portage Terriers by a score of 4-2 Saturday evening at the TG Smith Centre.

Portage opened the scoring just past the midway point of the first period. Steinbach was unable to get out of their own zone with Jack Kaiser keeping the puck in. Kaiser got the puck to Matt Wisener who found Kaden Kohle with a cross crease pass with him burying it past Dominik Wasik to make it 1-0.

The Pistons tied it up at the 1:12 mark of the second period on the penalty kill. Travis Hensrud picked up the puck in his own end and got a two on one with Landon Roberts, putting it top corner over Bailey Monteith’s shoulder to make it 1-1.

The Pistons would take the lead midway through the second period with a powerplay goal. Landon Roberts put the puck on net with the rebound going to Nate Goodbrandson at the side of the net, who then put it in the open net to make it 2-1.

Portage would answer right back, tying the game up 16-seconds later. Austin Peters found Ryan Botterill cutting towards the net who one timed it past Wasik to make it 2-2.

Portage restored the one goal lead on the powerplay with just over a minute remaining in the second period. Hayden Lacquette made a stretch pass to Slade Stanick who got a partial breakaway, getting it past Wasik.

The Terriers extended their lead to 2-goals with just under 2-minutes remaining in the final frame. Matt McLeod put a shot from the point off the crossbar with Austin McLean pouncing on the rebound and potting it past Wasik to make it 4-2.

Portage would close out the final 2-minutes of the period and securing the 4-2 win over the Steinbach Pistons.
