Pistons Forward Travis Hensrud Commits to Northern Michigan

The Steinbach Pistons are proud to announce the commitment of Travis Hensrud to play NCAA Div 1 hockey at Northern Michigan University.

Travis in his third season with the Steinbach Pistons where he has totalled 81 points (45 goals and 36 assists) in 81 games. Hensrud is having a breakout season offensively this year as he has 42 points in 27 games. Travis is a very versatile player, who is used in all scenarios, whether that be on the powerplay, shorthanded or even strength.

“When Northern Michigan came into discussion it was a no brainer for me and my family” state Travis Hensrud. “From the facility to the coaching staff it’s all first class and I’m very excited and looking forward fir the next 4 years at NMU.”

“Playing hockey in Steinbach has not only developed me as a player but also a young adult. Playing for the Pistons for the last 3 years has developed my game tremendously and grown my confidence to where I am able to contribute to our team’s success,” stated Travis Hensrud. “The organization provides the tools and equipment for us players to take our game to the next level. From the community to the volunteers and staff, it’s truly the best junior team to play for.”

“Travis has been with us for 3 years and we are all extremely excited for him to earn this opportunity” Head Coach and GM Paul Dyck commented. “He puts in a maximum effort every day and has been such a good teammate. After scoring 24 goals last season we felt he could put together a special season this year and he has been very good. He is an elite skater who is a threat in all situations and is one of those players that drives play.”
