Pistons Get Big Two Points Over Flyers

The Steinbach Pistons beat the Winkler Flyers by a score of 3-2 Wednesday evening in Winkler.

The Pistons got into penalty trouble early as just over a minute into the game they would be killing a 5 on 3 powerplay. Winkler took advantage of this, with Dalton Andrew scoring a powerplay goal to make it 1-0.

Steinbach would even it up 3-minutes later with a powerplay goal of their own. Ty Paisley got the puck behind the net and made a beautiful spin to get out in front of the net and put it in the back of the net to make it 1-1.

The Pistons were tied 1-1 with the Flyers after the first period with the shot totals 11-8 for the Flyers.

Steinbach would take the lead at the 3:40 mark of the second period with another powerplay goal. Langley Kruggel got the puck to Ian Amsbaugh at the left faceoff dot who then skated in a bit and put it blocker side to make it 2-1.

Steinbach would extend their lead to 3-1 with just over 3-minutes remaining in the second period. In the Pistons end Neo Kiemeney banked the puck off the boards perfectly to Davin Griffin, springing him on a breakaway who then made no mistake and put it in the back of the net.

The Pistons would go to the penalty kill midway through the third period as David Cote would be assessed a 2-minute minor and a 10-minute misconduct for hit to the head. Winkler would capitalize on this opportunity as Trent Penner would score on the powerplay to make it 3-2.

Winkler would push for the tying goal but the Pistons would stand tall and lock it down, holding on to the 3-2 win.
