Pistons Get Big Win Over 3rd Place Wolverines

The Steinbach Pistons beat the Waywayseecappo Wolverines by a score of 5-2 Monday evening.

The Pistons opened the scoring at the 7:11 mark of the first period as Jack Rogers scored off a nice cross crease pass by Neo Kiemeney to go up 1-0. Nate Goodbrandson got the secondary assist on the goal.

Three minutes later the Pistons extended their lead to 2-0 as Dawson Milliken scored on the backhand with Davis Fry getting the assist.

The Pistons continued to pour on the goals as Quinton Pepper made the lead 3-0 scoring from the right faceoff dot on the powerplay. Zach Power got the assist on the goal.

Steinbach went into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead and the shot totals were 15-7 for the Pistons.

The Pistons scored their fourth unanswered goal of the game with Nate Goodbrandson getting a nice takeaway in the offensive end and putting it past the Wolverines goaltender Brett Mirwald.

The Wolverines got their first goal of the game halfway through the second period as Boston Bird scored on the powerplay from Joey Moffatt and Lonan Bulger making it 4-1.

The Wolverines cut the lead down to 2 goals with five minutes remaining in the second period as Eric Krywy scored from Boston Bird on the powerplay to make it 4-2.

The second period finished with the score 4-2 and the shot totals 27-23 for the Pistons.

The third period saw the Pistons lock it down with Will Hambley shutting the door in net.

The Pistons put the nail in the coffin with Langley Kruggel getting an empty netter to solidify the 5-2 win.
