The Pistons lost Saturday evening in a hard-fought game that saw the Blues come out on top 4-3 in OT.
Steinbach opened the scoring for the second game in a row versus the Blues off a nice shot by Neo Kiemeny putting it top left corner. Nate Goodbrandson and Jack Rogers got the assists on the goal.
The Blues tied it up less than 2 minutes later when Jack Kaiser scored from Matthew McLeod and Dawson Zeller.
The rest of the first period was back and forth hockey until the Blues scored with 55 seconds left in the period on the power play with Matthew McLeod getting the goal.
The Blues kept the pressure on and scored 13 seconds later as Pistons goaltender Simon Harkness mishandled the puck and Jaden Ostrowski slipped the puck past him to put the Blues up 3-1.
At the end of the first period the shot totals were 20-14 for the Pistons.
The second period was all the Pistons as they controlled much of the period. Jack Rogers got it started on the power play at the 6:15 mark with the assists coming from Zac Patrick and Quinton Pepper.
Just over 2 minutes later Jack Rogers got back to work tying the game at 3-3 with the assists coming from Nate Goodbrandson and Neo Kiemeny.
At the end of the second period the game was tied 3-3 with the Pistons outshooting the Blues 33-24.
The third period saw some hard-fought hockey with both teams getting some good scoring chances but both team’s goalies kept the game tied and forced OT.
With 3 on 3 OT and lots of open ice keeping possession is so big. Simon Harkness made a beautiful save, absolutely robbing the Blues player but was unlucky as Caden Zaplitny put the rebound in and secured the 4-3 win for the Blues.
