Pistons Powerplay Buries Blizzard

The Steinbach Pistons scored five powerplay goals as the Pistons buried the OCN Blizzard 8-2 in MJHL action Sunday night in Steinbach.

Steinbach scored early and often as the Pistons skated to period leads of 4-1 and 6-2 as the free falling Blizzard were snowed under by the superior Pistons. OCN has been outscored 21-2 in their last three games.

 

The Pistons were led by Cole Smith, who had two goals and an assist. Also scoring for the Pistons were Luke Amsbough, Tyler Penner, Mackenzie Graham, Jordan Bochinski, Bradley Schoonbaert and Denis Bosc.

Steinbach outshot the Blizzard 54-23, including 22-6 in the third period, as this game was really no contest. Roman Bengert was in net for the Pistons as he made 21 stops.

Now with a 10-4-1 record, the Pistons remain in third place in the MJHL standings, four points back of the second place Winkler Flyers, although the Pistons have a game in hand on the Flyers.

The Pistons now have the week off before returning to action on the weekend with three games in three nights, starting Friday night at Selkirk.
