Pistons Thank Graduating Defenceman Josh Nelson

The Steinbach Pistons would like to thank and congratulate Josh Nelson on an amazing junior hockey career!

Before joining the Pistons, Josh played for the University of Minnesota-Crookston in ACHA II for the 2020-2021 season. In 12 games with them Josh had 12 points (6 goals and 6 assists). Josh made the move to junior hockey and the Steinbach Pistons for the 2021-2022 season. Over his two seasons with the Pistons, Josh played in 74 regular season games getting 24 points (0 goals and 24 assists) over that span. Josh played in 16 playoff games for the Pistons in 2021-2022 getting 4 assists. This past championship run Josh only played in one game as he was out with lingering injury problems.

“I look back on my time in Steinbach and am grateful for the teammates I had” Josh stated when asked about his time spent in Steinbach. “I was surrounded by guys who showed up every day ready to compete and were all around great guys.”

Josh was made one if the assistant captains this year for the Pistons and was a quiet but intentional leader on the team. Even though he had some injury problems this season, Josh showed up and supported the guys through the ups and downs. Josh led by example on and off the ice and left a lasting impression wherever he went.

Josh will be missed in Steinbach, but the Pistons organization wish him all the best in the future!
