Pistons Thank Graduating Goaltender Dominik Wasik

The Steinbach Pistons would like to thank and congratulate Dominik Wasik on an amazing junior hockey career!

Before joining the Steinbach Pistons at the beginning of the season, Dominik spent two seasons in the NAHL split between the Aberdeen Wings and the Johnstown Tomahawks. Dominik would play 29 games for Aberdeen over two seasons with a record of 17-9-1. During his time in Johnstown, Dominik would have a 3.77 GAA and a 0.880 SV% over 9 games. This season with the Pistons, Dominik would be a part of a goalie tandem and take over as the starter for the Pistons momentous playoff run. Dominik played 35 regular season games, boasting a 2.22 GAA and a 0.924 SV% and in the playoffs had a 2.35 GAA and a 0.921 SV%. Dominik capped off his amazing season with the Pistons by committing to the United States Air Force Academy where he will be heading to next year to play hockey.

“If there is one word, I could use for my time in Steinbach it would be grateful” Wasik stated on his time in Steinbach. “As hockey players we sometimes get caught up in statistics and what others think of us. A coach once said to me the true reason you play hockey is to have fun, see the world, and meet new friends. I did exactly that. The community in Steinbach is special to be apart of. I’m grateful for all the opportunity’s I got here and all the people I’ve met. I grew so much not just as a goalie but as a human being. I wouldn’t trade my time in Steinbach for anything else.”

Dominik was a calm and collected presence for the Pistons this season. He was a goalie that the players could have complete trust in and was the backbone of the team. Dominik was also a great presence off the ice, not shying away from a conversation with the many faces around the TG Smith Centre and always in a happy mood. You will be missed here in Steinbach and the Pistons wish you all the best in your future hockey endeavours!
