Plowman Stands Tall in 3-1 Win

The Steinbach Pistons beat the Winnipeg Blues by a score of 3-1 Friday evening at the TG Smith Centre.

The Pistons got to work quickly, scoring 26 seconds into the game. Davis Fry found Ty Paisley out in front of the net who made a nice forehand-backhand move to put it past Blues goaltender Brock Moroz.

The Pistons went to the powerplay once in the first period but killed it off successfully, not giving the Blues much to work with.

Steinbach controlled the beginning of the game, outshooting the Blues 7-0 in the first eight minutes. The Blues eventually settled in as the shot totals to close out the first period were 15-13 for Steinbach.

The Blues tied it up at the 2:34 mark of the second period as Luke Janus found Michael Tanchak with a cross crease pass who made not mistake getting it past Cole Plowman.

Steinbach regained the lead, making it 2-1 with just over a minute remaining in the second period. Neo Kiemeney got the puck to Nate Goodbrandson out front who put it blocker side.

The Pistons twice came oh so close to scoring with O’Neill and Fry both being turned away on grade A scoring chances.

The Pistons put the nail in the coffin with Leo Chambers scoring an empty net goal with just over 30-seconds left in the game.

Both goalies played exceptional as Cole Plowman got first star honours stopping 30/31 and Brock Moroz got second start honours stopping 39/41.
