Road Report: Powered by Compass Coach Lines – Feb 17th @ Kings

The Steinbach Pistons head to Dauphin this evening to face off against the Kings with puck drop set for 7:30pm.

The Pistons are yet to get back to their winning ways like they were in the first half of the season as they have gone 9-6 since returning from the Christmas break. Over that span the Pistons have outscored their opponents 47-36. The Pistons still continue to have one of the top goalie tandems in the MJHL as Dominik Wasik and Cole Plowman have a combined GAA of 2.30 and a combined SV% of 0.919. The Pistons sit second in the MJHL standings with a 33-12-0-0 record and 66 points which is 6 points behind the Terriers, but the Pistons have 2-games in hand.

The Dauphin Kings are in the thick of the very tight MGEU West Division. Dauphin currently has a 26-17-2-1 record and 55 points which has them in 5th place in the MJHL and second in the West Division. 12 points separates first from last in the West Division, with every night seemingly a different team is in first place. Dauphin’s goalie tandem has good numbers but not quite as good as the Pistons. Cole Sheffield and Marko Belak have a combined GAA of 2.94 and a combined SV% of 0.911.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Pistons: Dawson Milliken

The Captain of the Pistons, Dawson Milliken has had a choppy season as he has dealt with a couple of injuries. Milliken bounces back quickly and gets right back in stride as he has 28 points (9 goals and 19 assists) in 27 games. Milliken plays a hard-fought game, where he throws the body around, goes into the corners and generates offence. Milliken is a natural leader on the team that is evident in the way he plays.

Kings: Owen Wareham

Owen Wareham so far this season has 30 points (3 goals and 27 assists) in 46 games. Wareham is a good two-way defenceman that excels on both sides of the puck. Wareham is great at shutting down the opposing team’s offence and will also jump in on the rush when need be. Make sure to look out for Owen Wareham as he will definitely make an impact on the game.
