The Steinbach Pistons head to Winkler this evening to face off against the Flyers with puck drop set for 7:00pm.
The Steinbach Pistons are coming off a much needed 5-3 win over the Neepawa Titans. The Pistons have not necessarily had the start to the second half of the season as they’d like to as they’ve gone 8-5 since returning after Christmas. Tonight’s game will be a big one as the Flyers are 4-points behind in the MGEU East Division. Steinbach has a chance to tie Portage for first place tonight as they are two points behind, but Steinbach currently has a game in hand. Overall, Steinbach has a 32-11-0-0 record and 64 points.
The Winkler Flyers are slowly closing in on the Pistons and Terriers as they sit 4-points behind Steinbach and 6-points behind Portage. Winkler so far has a 27-10-5-1 record and 60 points on the season. Winkler is currently riding a 5-game win streak where they have outscored their opponents 19-10 over that span. Since the Christmas break the Flyers are similar to the Pistons in record going 7-4.

Pistons: Davis Fry
Tonight, will be Davis Fry’s first game back after serving a 2-game suspension. Fry will be looking to make an impact right away and will be hungry to get on the score sheet. Through 36 games this season Fry has 48 points (16 goals and 32 assists). Fry has a big frame and uses that to his advantage to generate scoring chances and put the Pistons on the board.
Flyers: Trent Penner
Trent Penner has 40 points (23 goals and 17 assists) in 44 games played this season. Penner has taken a much bigger role on the Flyers this season and has really come into his own. Penner is a feisty player, who will get under your skin but also make plays and generate offence. Penner will be looking to make an impact tonight so keep an eye out for him.
