The Steinbach Pistons beat the Winkler Flyers by a score of 4-3 Monday evening which extended their win streak to 12 games.
Jack Rogers got the night started for the Pistons as he scored on the powerplay off a nice feed from Dawson Milliken to make the game 1-0.
Nate Goodbrandson extended the lead to 2-0 at the 9:04 mark of the first period with Jack Rogers forcing an offensive zone turnover and Cooper Rice making the nice pass to Goodbrandson.
The Pistons closed out the first period up 2-0 with the shot totals 17-5 for the Pistons.
Jack Rogers got his second goal of the game, grabbing the loose puck off a rebound and getting it past Flyer’s goaltender Dylan Meilun.
The Flyers answered back 20 seconds later as Nicholas Mckee got the loose puck and flipped it over Will Hambley to make the game 3-1.
After two periods of play the Pistons were up 3-1 with the shot totals 34-17 for Steinbach.
Davis Fry restored the 3-goal lead at the 6:25 mark of the third period as Dawson Milliken made a beautiful pass to Fry in front of the net who then slid it through the fivehole. Ty Paisley got the secondary assist on the play.
Jayden McCarthy brought it back to within 2-goals as he dove for a loose puck in the crease, sliding it past Will Hambley to make it 4-2.
The Flyers made a late push as they pulled the goalie with just over a minute to go and Justin Svenson brought the game to within one. The Pistons tried to get the puck out of the zone, but the Flyers pressure kept it in and Svenson capitalized.
A pair of clutch blocks in the dying seconds by Zach Power and Braden Birnie solidified the win as the Pistons won 4-3.
