It was yet another successful year in the field as the Pistons corn crop was harvested earlier this week thanks to our friends at Henervic Farms.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the crop program, the Peters family, who were the first farm involved in the program, planted a 112 acre corn crop south of Highway 52 near La Broquerie.
Like many other crops in the region, seed went into the ground later than anticipated and was hit by some heavy spring rains that affected the yield negatively. The silver lining however, is the warm September weather with the lack of frost which helped make it a good quality crop.
Thank you to our community sponsors who helped along the way to make the 2024 Pistons Crop Program a success. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and it would not be successful without your support. Thank you to our level 3 sponsors Marc Hutlet Seeds and MazorGroup as well as our level 4 partners Clearview Co-op and Enns Brothers.
A big thank you to Ed, Lyle, Eric, Vic, your staff, and families from Henervic Farms for making such a generous contribution to our organization and the effort put into making it a successful crop.
