Team scoring leader Dan Taillefer had a goal and three assists to lead the Steinbach Pistons to a 6-4 victory over the Selkirk Steelers in Manitoba Junior Hockey League action Friday night at Selkirk.
Tied 3-3 after the first, the Pistons held a 5-4 lead after 40 minutes. Tyler Penner added an empty netter in the third.
Darby Gula, Cole Smith, Scott Petkau and Tyson McConnell rounded out the Steinabch scoring. Steinbach outshot Selkirk 35-27 as Jeremy Wik got the win in the Steinbach net.
With his four-point outing, Taillefer has risen to sixth in the MJHL scoring race with 43 points in 35 games, including 33 assists.
Elsewhere in the MJHL last night: Portage crushed OCN 8-2, Dauphin edged Virden 2-1 and Wayway outscored Neepawa 6-2.
The Pistons, who improved to 25-8-2, are back into a second place tie in the standings with the Winkler Flyers although the Flyers have played two fewer games than the Pistons.
The Pistons will host the Steelers in the rematch tonight (Saturday) at 7:30 p.m. at the T.G. Smith Centre.
