The Steinbach Pistons are proud to announce the commitment of forward Ty Paisley to the NCAA Division 1 University of St. Thomas Men’s Hockey Program!
Ty Paisley is a hometown boy and was auto protected by the Pistons ahead of the 2019 MJHL Bantam Draft. Last year was Ty’s first season with the team where he notched 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points in 53 regular season games. Ty also had a strong postseason with the Pistons in their deep playoff run where he had 10 points (5 goals and 5 assists) in 18 games. Ty capped off his great rookie season by being added to the NHL Central Scouting’s final draft rankings. As great as he is on the ice, Ty is even better off the ice. A great locker room guy, Ty has great character and is a stand-up person.
“I got a very good vibe from all 3 of the coaches and trust in what they’re going to do with that program” Paisley stated on what led him to committing to St. Thomas. “The campus is absolutely amazing along with the new rink they are building on campus, I’m extremely excited to be apart of what they have coming in the next couple of years.”
Commenting on how the Pistons have aided in his development Paisley stated, “I couldn’t have asked for a better program to play junior hockey. Paul has given me a lot of opportunity to become a better player over the last year and I am excited to build on that this coming season.”
“We saw a lot of growth in Ty’s game last season as he played his best hockey near the end of the season and into the playoff” Head Coach and GM Paul Dyck commented. “He is very committed to his development on the ice and in the gym which has been a big reason for his development. I am excited for Ty and the commitment he has earned to St. Thomas and look forward to working him with in preparing him for the next level.”
