The Steinbach Pistons has tapped the team’s leading scorer last season to wear the C on his crest.
Tyler Penner, 20, was named captain through a selection involving his teammates and the coaching staff.
“It was an honour to be presented with the captaincy, especially playing three years with this team and being able to lead them in my last year is quite an honour,” said Penner, who hails from Winnipeg.
Steinbach’s assistant captains will be La Broquerie native Dan Taillefer, Denis Bosc of Dufresne and Hayden Goderis of Winnipeg.
The four players are in their final season of Manitoba Junior Hockey League eligibility.
Penner tallied a team-high 35 goals as well as 31 assists last season.
Taillefer, back for his fifth season in a Pistons uniform, was good for 59 points last year, just shy of a point per game.
Bosc recorded 36 points in 44 games last season.
Goderis enters his fourth season with the Pistons after totalling 48 points in the last campaign.
