The Steinbach Pistons along with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries recognized Clancy Unger as the Volunteer of the Month this past week.
He was honoured before last Wednesday’s game by Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries representative Claude Plante.\
Clancy has been volunteering with the Pistons for the past 3 years as a security guard, and a goal judge on game days. He says he volunteers with the team as a way to give back after his son Caden played for the Pistons.
“Every year they send more and more players to a higher level,” he said. “Those are great moments, be it in sport or the world of earning a pay cheque.”
Clancy also enjoys the community aspect that the Pistons organization has. “Not many teams require as much community commitment as Steinbach does,” he explained. “I needed some construction help a few years ago, so Paul sent me a player to help for the morning to put up rafters. It was a good experience for all.”
There are tons of different opportunities to join a dedicated group of volunteers with the Steinbach Pistons. We are looking for volunteers all the time during game days, including ticket gate attendants, security guards like Norbert, goal judges, score keepers, photographers, and PA announcers. We are now looking for volunteers to help us run our LED screen on game days. These include camera operators, and people to help run video switcher, music, and instant replays. If you want to take your support of the Pistons to the next level, email [email protected] for more details.
