VIDEO:Touring Bemidji State University

The Steinbach Pistons took time before their Christmas break to make a quick day trip down to Bemidji State University. The purpose of the trip was to give the players an inside look at what it could look like to play for an NCAA Division 1 school.

The team left bright and early to embark on the three and half hour drive to Bemidji, Minnesota. Once the team arrived at the newly built Sanford Center, they took in the BSU Beavers pre-game skate before their game that evening against the Bowling Green State University Falcons.

They then met up with La Broquerie Native and former Steinbach Pistons defenseman Justin Baudry, who entered into his first year playing for the Beavers. Steinbacher and former Portage Terrier Brendan Harms also plays for Bemidji and is in his 2nd year with the team.

After a brief tour of the Beavers facilities, the Beavers assistant coach took the Pistons to the dressing room and relayed the message to the team that a spot in BSU’s hockey program could be a goal for any player in the MJHL.

The Pistons also had the chance to skate in front of BSU and Bowling Green coaching staffs before cleaning up, finding supper and then enjoying the BSU game in the evening. Bowling Green ended up defeating BSU 2-0.
