Jets coach Maurice headlines 9th annual Fire and Ice Banquet

The Steinbach Pistons hosted their 9th annual Fire and Ice Banquet last night at the Niverville Heritage Centre.

The annual banquet was held in Niverville for the first time, and it was a smashing success. The guest speaker was Winnipeg Jets Head Coach Paul Maurice. Maurice was thoroughly impressed with how the players were constantly involved in the community volunteering, and how the players were taking ownership of counting up their own volunteer hours for the week.

Maurice’s main message to the players was simple; take the time to appreciate everyone that has helped them on their hockey journey, and to thank them for what they do for them.

The evening featured the annual traditions of the event, including introducing the team to the guests, a Pistons Q & A session where no question is off limits, and the hilarious stylings of the Pistons rookies as they belted out ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ by Guns N Roses.

Maurice stayed after the banquet to talk to the team and coaches, and to take a team picture with them.
