HEAD COACH AND GENERAL MANAGER - PAUL DYCK

A two-time MJHL Coach of the Year and finalist for 2017 CJHL Coach of the Year, Paul has been involved with the Steinbach Pistons since the 2010/11 season, where he was brought aboard as Assistant Coach and the Director of Sales and Marketing. He was promoted to Interim Head Coach/GM in December 2011, and was named the second Head Coach/GM in franchise history in the summer of 2012.

He played his junior years with the Dauphin Kings in the MJHL and the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL. Paul was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1991 NHL Draft, and spent the next 15 years playing pro hockey across the globe. He won an IHL title with the Houston Aeros in 1999 under current Edmonton Oilers coach Dave Tippett, and won a DEL championship in Germany with the Krefeld Penguine to advance to the Spengler Cup in 2003.

Under Paul’s leadership, the Pistons have posted a 297-119-30 record and have captured two Turnbull Cup championships in 2013 and 2018, the 2018 ANAVET CUP, and advanced to the 2018 RBC Cup in Chilliwack, B.C. The Pistons have seen 12 NCAA Division I commitments under his guidance and have seen around 30 former players move onto a higher level of hockey over the past four years.

Paul has also coached on the national stage, serving as a guest coach and evaluator for Team Canada West from 2013-15 and 2016-17, and won a gold medal as an Assistant Coach with TCW at the 2015 World Junior A Challenge. In addition, he was the Head Coach for Team West at the 2015 CJHL Top Prospects Game. Paul holds the MJHL record for the fastest coach to win 250 career games, doing so in just 376 games.

ASSISTANT COACH - CALVIN BUGYIK

Calvin joined the Steinbach Pistons as Assistant Coach in the summer of 2018 after a decorated coaching tenure in Manitoba U-18 hockey. He played two years of junior ‘A’ hockey as a goaltender with the SJHL’s Melfort Mustangs from 1999-2001.

Along with working on the farm, Calvin has coached hockey in various levels across the province in the past decade. He was the assistant and head coach of the Hockey Manitoba Directors Cup Prospects team, and held the same roles the Eastman City Selects of the Winnipeg City U-17 Prep League.

From there, he was the head coach of the Eastman Selects of the Manitoba AAA U-18 Hockey League from 2013-16 and guided them to a sparkling 93-28-11 record during that span. And during 2016-18, he was the assistant coach of the Winnipeg Wild and helped guide them to two Manitoba U-18 titles.

VIDEO COACH - GRAHAM POLLOCK

Graham is currently the longest serving member of the Steinbach Pistons’ coaching staff, spending time with the club from 2009 to 2011, and 2012 to present day. He has coached many different levels of hockey over the past 40 years, many of which came while also serving as a member of the RCMP for 38 years.

When he’s not at the rink, chasing his grandkids around, or relaxing at home with his three dogs, Graham currently serves as the Board Chair for the Steinbach Arts Council and runs the annual Summer in the City festival in Steinbach every June.

GOALIE COACH - GUY ST. VINCENT

The 2019-20 season will be Guy’s first season as Goalie Coach of the Pistons. He spent his junior days manning the crease with the Winkler Flyers and Southeast Blades from 2001-03, and then had a seven-year pro career playing for nine different American teams in the Central Hockey League (CHL) and the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).

After his pro career ended, Guy returned to his hometown of Ste. Anne and currently runs his own goaltending school named Top Shelf Goaltending. He also recently invented an innovative piece of goalie equipment named ‘Blok’, which is a piece of rubber that fits onto a goal stick to prevent finger and hand injuries caused by pucks hitting the area. His product is currently being tested by different NHL goaltenders and teams.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT COACH - J.P. VIGIER

J.P. was brought aboard as Skills Development Coach in July 2019. He has a notable hockey resume to his name, playing for the Portage Terriers from 1994-96 and then spending four years from 1996-2000 at NCAA Div I Northern Michigan University where he accumulated 61 goals and 125 points in 161 career collegiate games.

He turned pro in 2000 and had a 12 year playing career which included seven seasons with the Atlanta Thrashers organization and five seasons playing in Switzerland. He played five times for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup, winning the tournament in 2008.

Vigier returned to Manitoba after his playing career and currently runs Vigier Hockey, a year-round skills development program out of Winnipeg.

MEDIA/MARKETING ASSISTANT - BRIGHTON THIESSEN

Brighton joined the organization in October of 2017 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Media from Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg.
