2022 Fire & Ice Banquet

The Steinbach Pistons are excited to present the 2022 Fire and Ice Banquet – At Home Edition 2.0. The 12th annual banquet will take place Tuesday February 8th  at 6:30pm from the comfort of your own homes. Whether you plan it as a date night in or a dinner party with friends,  we look forward to you joining us for this really fun Olympic themed night.

Steinbach’s own Michelle Sawatzky, who competed on Canada’s National Women’s Volleyball team at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, will host the evening once again. The Pistons are beyond thrilled to welcome our special guests on this year’s panel. All current and former Olympians, and all from Manitoba.

Cindy Klassen  – Hailing from Winnipeg Manitoba, Cindy is a 6-time Olympic medalist in speedskating which includes 1 gold medal in the 1500M race at the 2006 winter games in Turin, Italy. She also made it to the podium 18 more times at other events on the world stage.

Jennifer Botterill – Jennifer is a 4-time Olympic medalist, including 3 gold at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 winter games respectively, in women’s hockey. She also helped the national women’s team capture 5 gold medals and 3 silver at the IIHF World Women’s Championship. After her retirement from the game in 2011, Jennifer made the transition over to broadcasting where she now serves as an NHL analyst on Sportsnet.

Jocelyne Larocque – Jocelyne is currently preparing for her 3rd Olympic appearance on Canada’s women’s hockey team. She was a member of the 2014 gold medal victory in Sochi and the silver medal loss to the Americans at the 2018 games in Pyeongchang. Jocelyne also helped team Canada find the podium 8 more times at the IIHF World Championships. Jocelyne’s hockey career began just 10 minutes up the road from Steinbach in Ste. Anne where she grew up and we are excited for this opportunity to showcase one of our local athletes at this year’s banquet.

Thanks to our partners at HyLife, we are once again offering 3-course meal packages, prepared by HyLife Corporate Chef Jean-Philippe Charpentier (JP), delivered right to your door to our attendees who reside in southeastern Manitoba.

For the past 20 years, chef JP has been cooking up creative and delicious dishes wherever he goes. Born in Les-Mees, a small cozy town southern France, JP’s culinary career began early on. After graduating from the Centre de Formation Rene Villeneuve, a Digne les Bains in the south of France at age 14, JP had the opportunity to fully show his expertise working in different French restaurants: La Marmite Du Pêcheur which specialized in fish, and a 1st star Michelin restaurant called La Bonne Étape.

In 2011 a big challenge was presented to Chef JP, this time on a new continent and in a new culture, to be a Chef de Cuisine at Cassis Bistro – a little French restaurant where they valued local products and showcased the fine dishes from France in Canada. Just to list a few of his accomplishments. Today, Chef JP Charpentier has brought his diverse experience and skill set to HyLife, where he spearheads new culinary projects in his role as Corporate Chef. We are honoured to have someone of his level of expertise be a part of this event.

Chef JP will be preparing a stellar 3 course menu for the evening where you have the opportunity to put the finishing touches on your meal and partake in a cooking lesson from JP himself.

*Stay tuned as we will soon unveil the menu for this year’s banquet.*
