Pistons Volunteer with New Bothwell School

Several Pistons visited classes in New Bothwell School during recent weeks. The guys helped out with anything they could, including school work and playing with the kids during recess hours.

It is all part of the Pistons’ volunteering initiative, in which the team hopes to reach a set goal of 1,500 hours of volunteering in the community.

“The interaction between the Piston players and our students while they are working on math, reading, taking part in classroom activities, or demonstrating fair play at recess is a very welcome addition to our school day,” principal Laura Rekrut said.

School visits such as the one to Bothwell School are just a small part of reaching that goal. “It is wonderful to see the Pistons volunteer and support our students,” Rekrut said. “They contribute a positive influence with our students during their visits.”
