The Steinbach Pistons are pleased to announce that they will be hosting their 6th annual Fire & Ice banquet at Friedensfeld Hall on Wednesday, February 4th. This year’s guest speaker will be former NHL Stanley Cup Winning NHL Defenseman and now TSN Jets TV/Radio Analyst Shane Hnidy.
The 6’ 2’’ Defenseman played his Midget hockey for the Yellowhead Chiefs before playing as a sixteen year-old for his hometown Neepawa Natives of the MJHL. From there he went to play 327 games in the WHL for the Swift Current Broncos and Prince Albert Raiders.
After playing four seasons split between the ECHL, AHL and IHL he finally got his shot in the NHL as a 25 year-old with the Ottawa Senators. He never looked back, totalling 550 games in the NHL along with winning the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins in 2010/2011.
In the past the Pistons have had people like Stu Grimson, Craig Heisinger, Ted Irvine, Mark Chipman, Doug Brown and Kevin Cheveldayoff speak at the annual fundraising banquet.
