Bengert Gold-N-Memories Player of the Month

The Steinbach Pistons along with Gold-N-Memories in Steinbach recognized Roman Bengert as the team’s player of the month for December earlier this month.

The goaltending situation looked questionable going into the season with the departure of Nick Deery and Mario Petit. However, Roman Bengert and his counterpart Jeremy Wik have filled the vacancy.

Bengert has played so well in his rookie season that he has been the runner-up for the MJHL Goaltender of the Month in October, November and December.  The Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia product is at the top of the league in goals against average with 2.23 and save percentage with .924.

And when the 19 year-old isn’t stopping pucks he’s out in the community busy making a difference. That showed when he was given the MJHL’s Manitoba Pork Peak Performer of the Month for December; an award given to a player who is active in the community.
