The Selkirk Steelers edged out the Steinbach Pistons in a thrilling shootout victory, securing a 3-2 win on Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd of over 2400 on the inaugural night at the Southeast Event Centre. With a strong performance by Selkirk’s Ty Jamieson and goalie Logan Olsonawski, the Steelers came out on top in a tightly contested game.

Despite several chances, neither team managed to break the deadlock in the third period or overtime. Both defences held firm, and the goaltenders were stellar, with Olsonawski and Green making crucial saves to keep their teams in the game.

The Steelers clinched the game in the shootout with successful goals from Jamieson and Witham. Steinbach’s attempts, led by Laplante and Hoffman, were denied by Olsonawski, sealing the victory for Selkirk.
