The Steinbach Pistons would like to congratulate Forward Ian Amsbaugh on his commitment to play hockey next season for Adrian College’s NCAA Div 3 Men’s Hockey Program.
Ian a native of Bottineau, North Dakota played on his high school hockey team from 2017-2021. Over those four seasons, Ian had 172 points (87 goals and 85 assists) in 81 games. After high school Ian played one season for Dakota College at Bottineau in ACHA Div 2, where he got 57 points (20 goals and 37 assists) in 31 games. For the 2022-2023 season Ian decided to make the move to the MJHL and join the Steinbach Pistons. Ian was a big contributor on offence this season for the Pistons where he got 58 points (21 goals and 37 assists) in 58 games during the regular season. During the post season, Ian continued to produce for the Pistons and was their leading point getter at the Centennial Cup with 5 points in 4 games.
“What led me to Adrian was how they run their program and their history” Ian commented on committing to Adrian College. “They do everything they can to make it feel like a division one program with all the tools they give you to develop. They also have a very good history of being one of the best teams every year and advancing their players to pro leagues.”
“The Pistons helped my development a ton. From being on the ice with guys that made me better every day, to Paul and Calvin teaching me a lot about the game and how I can use my skills to my advantage” Ian commented on how the Pistons helped to get him to this opportunity. “I feel like Steinbach helped me become a better person and a player from my bullets, the rink, the gym, and volunteering. I will always be grateful for the special year I had in Steinbach.”
